The basic formula is simple:

Daily water consumption (in liters) x Number of reserve days = Minimum required tank capacity (in liters)

Example calculations:

  • Farm: 50 dairy cows (average 100 l/head) + 2000 l for washing and other purposes = 7000 l/day. Assuming a 7-day reserve, a tank with a capacity of at least 49,000 l (approx. 50 m³) is needed.
  • Small production plant: 20 employees (60 l/person) + 5000 l for technological purposes = 6200 l/day. A 3-day reserve requires a tank of approx. 18,600 l (approx. 20 m³).
